And the Winner of the 2013 Spelling Bee...

Congratulations to spelling bee champion, Kenneth Ross of Kemps Landing Magnet School! Kenneth won The Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee in the 10th round with the word "zealotry."

Second place went to Theodore Hamacher (Hickory Middle School) and Ryan Shelton (Southampton Middle School). Thank you to all the spellers, parents and volunteers who make the bee possible.

The Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee will rebroadcast Saturday, February 16, 7:00 pm WHRO KIDS 15.3, Cox Digital 108, Charter Digital 120, FIOS Channel 462. Soon, you'll be able to watch the bee on demand and many more photos from the bee will be made available so check back!

You may inquire about participating in the 2014 Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee by contacting Scripps National Spelling Bee at www.spellingbee.com. Among other requirements, students must be in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade to compete.
